Last Christmas letter Princess Diana Makes 'Goosebumps'
London - Kensington Palace bearing the letter dated December 21, 1996 was written Princess Diana's Simon Barnes. In black ink strokes, he expressed his gratitude for Christmas gifts given by his friend.
Written at Kensington Palace - the official residence since 1981 - Diana claimed in the letter touched on the gift. Barnes gave the book The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield, who became a bestseller in 1996.
However, it was written to Diana, "I have not read 'The Celestial Prophecy' and I hope you remind me about the book," he wrote, as quoted from the site International Business Times, Sunday (11/12/2016).
Barnes is a paralysis patient, who suffered a severe injury to his spine in an exercise Territorial Army since he was 21 years old.
His friendship with Diana interwoven through their charitable action in the Spinal Research Trust.
The letter is not the usual acknowledgments, at least according to RR Auction, which will auction it.
"Shows that Princess Diana is a person who is open and has a charming personality qualities - that makes everyone love it. And it can be seen from this letter," said Robert Livingston, Executive Vice President at RR Auction.
People who are considered a good friend by Lady Di is not only the nobility, or those who are rich.
Diana wrote his own letter, instead of typing. In it he called his friend 'Simon' - which shows the personal closeness.
"Thank you very much for thinking of me in the Christmas mood - after all the changes that happened this year was incredible to be able to see a person who's wise," Diana wrote in his letter.
What is written in two sheets of paper it has also had a special meaning. Just a few months earlier, Lady Di officially divorced her husband, Prince Charles. Previously they had announced the breakup since 1992.
Divorce both done at the request of Queen Elizabeth. The UK authorities are not happy with the interview which reveals the Diana affair.
Ahead of the cover letter, Diana expect 1997 to be a year full of luck for Simon Barnes. "Personally I can not wait for the end (1996)," added Diana.
He did not think, even tragic things happen in 1997.
Nine months after the letter was written, Princess Diana was killed in a crash in Paris, France. Her boyfriend at the time, Dodi Fayed also died.
